Drum Lifter – OQ Protocol

Operational Qualification (OQ) Protocol for Drum Lifter

Document Number: OQ-001

Version: 1.0

Effective Date: 2023-10-01

Reviewed By: [Name]

Approval Date: [Date]

Objective

The objective of this Operational Qualification (OQ) protocol is to verify that the Drum Lifter functions according to the specified requirements and is suitable for its intended use in the production area for solid dosage forms.

Scope

This protocol covers the qualification of the Drum Lifter used for handling and positioning drums in the Production/Material Handling area. It includes the testing of critical parameters related to safety and load capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Validation Team: Responsible for executing the OQ protocol and documenting results.
  • Quality Assurance: Responsible for reviewing and approving the OQ protocol and results.
  • Operations: Responsible for providing access to the equipment and supporting the validation team during testing.

Prerequisites

  • Equipment Installation Qualification (IQ) must be completed.
  • Personnel must be trained on the operation of the Drum Lifter.
  • All necessary tools and resources must be available for testing.

Equipment Description

The Drum Lifter is designed for handling and positioning drums in the production area. It includes safety interlocks to prevent operation under unsafe conditions and is capable of handling a specified load capacity.

Test Plan

Test ID Procedure Acceptance Criteria Evidence
OQ-01 Verify load capacity interlocks function correctly. Interlocks must prevent operation if load exceeds maximum capacity. Test log and interlock verification report.
OQ-02 Test safety features during operation. Safety features must activate under simulated fault conditions. Safety test report and incident log.

Detailed Test Cases

Test Case OQ-01: Load Capacity Interlocks

Procedure: Gradually increase the load on the Drum Lifter until it exceeds the maximum capacity. Observe whether the interlocks prevent operation.

Acceptance Criteria: Interlocks must prevent operation if the load exceeds the specified limit.

Evidence: Documented results in the test log.

Test Case OQ-02: Safety Features

Procedure: Simulate a fault condition and verify that all safety features activate as designed.

Acceptance Criteria: Safety features must activate and halt operation immediately.

Evidence: Safety test report detailing the activation of safety features.

Deviations

Any deviations from the protocol must be documented and assessed for impact on the qualification status of the Drum Lifter. A root cause analysis should be conducted for any significant deviations.

Approvals

Approval of this protocol indicates that all parties have reviewed and agree with the content and procedures outlined herein.
