Installation Qualification Protocol for Desiccant Inserter in Transdermal Patch Packaging

Objective: To establish and document the Installation Qualification (IQ) of the Desiccant Inserter used for inserting desiccants into pouches and cartons for transdermal patches.

Scope: This protocol applies to the installation qualification of the Desiccant Inserter utilized in the packaging area for transdermal patches, ensuring compliance with URS Annex 11.

Responsibilities:

  • Validation Team: Responsible for executing the IQ protocol and documenting results.
  • Quality Assurance: Responsible for reviewing and approving the IQ documentation.
  • Equipment Owner: Responsible for ensuring the equipment is available and in good condition for qualification.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of Equipment Installation.
  • Availability of necessary documentation (URS, equipment manuals, etc.).
  • Training of personnel on the use of the Desiccant Inserter.

Equipment Description:

The Desiccant Inserter is designed to accurately place desiccants into packaging pouches and cartons for transdermal patches, ensuring product integrity and stability. The critical parameters include placement accuracy, reject logic, and audit trail capabilities.

Test ID Procedure Acceptance Evidence
IQ-01 Verify equipment placement accuracy using calibrated measuring tools. Placement accuracy within ±0.5 mm. Calibration report and measurement records.
IQ-02 Test reject logic by simulating a misplacement. System must reject misplacements and log the event. Audit trail report showing rejection event.
IQ-03 Review audit trail functionality for completeness. All events must be logged with timestamps. Audit trail report.

Detailed Test Cases:

  • IQ-01: Measure the placement accuracy of desiccants. Document any deviations from the acceptance criteria.
  • IQ-02: Conduct a test run to simulate desiccant misplacement. Ensure the system triggers the reject logic and logs the event appropriately.
  • IQ-03: Review the audit trail for all operations performed during the test runs to ensure compliance with data integrity standards.

Deviations: Any deviation from the acceptance criteria must be documented and investigated. A corrective action plan should be implemented if necessary.
