Objective

The objective of this Installation Qualification (IQ) Protocol is to ensure that the Inline Emulsification System is installed correctly and operates according to its intended use in the formulation of emulsion droplets for microspheres and microcapsules.

Scope

This protocol applies to the Inline Emulsification System located in the R&D/Production area, specifically used for the emulsification process in the development of NDDS.

Responsibilities

  • Validation Team: Responsible for the execution of the IQ protocol and documentation of results.
  • Quality Assurance: Responsible for reviewing and approving the IQ protocol and results.
  • Maintenance Team: Responsible for ensuring the equipment is maintained and calibrated prior to the IQ execution.

Prerequisites

  • Completion of equipment installation as per manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Verification of utilities (water, electricity, etc.) are available and functioning.
  • Calibration of all measuring instruments used in the IQ process.

Equipment Description

The Inline Emulsification System is designed to form emulsion droplets for microspheres and microcapsules. Key features include adjustable shear rate, flow temperature control, and pressure monitoring capabilities. The system operates under critical conditions to ensure product quality.

Test Plan

Test ID Procedure Acceptance Criteria Evidence
IQ-1 Verify installation against manufacturer specifications. All components installed as per specifications. Installation checklist signed off.
IQ-2 Check utility connections (water, electricity). All utilities operational. Utility check report.
IQ-3 Calibrate shear rate, flow, and pressure sensors. Calibration within specified limits. Calibration certificates.
IQ-4 Perform a dry run of the emulsification process. No malfunctions or alarms during dry run. Dry run report.
