Installation Qualification Protocol for Planetary Mixer in Wet Massing
Objective: To verify that the Planetary Mixer is installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications and is suitable for its intended use in the production of solid dosage forms.
Scope: This protocol applies to the installation qualification of the Planetary Mixer utilized in the wet massing process within the Production/Granulation area.
Responsibilities:
- Validation Team: Responsible for executing this protocol and documenting results.
- Quality Assurance: Responsible for reviewing and approving the protocol and results.
- Maintenance Team: Responsible for ensuring the equipment is installed and maintained according to specifications.
Prerequisites:
- Equipment must be delivered and unpacked.
- Installation site must meet environmental and operational requirements.
- Personnel must be trained on the operation of the equipment.
Equipment Description:
The Planetary Mixer is designed for wet massing processes in the production of solid dosage forms. It features adjustable speed settings and a unique bowl clearance mechanism to ensure optimal mixing efficiency.
| Test ID | Procedure | Acceptance Criteria | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| IQ-01 | Verify equipment installation according to manufacturer’s specifications. | All components installed as per specifications. | Installation checklist signed off by the technician. |
| IQ-02 | Check electrical connections and functionality. | All connections secure and equipment operational. | Functional test report. |
| IQ-03 | Validate speed settings. | Speed settings match specified parameters. | Calibration report. |
| IQ-04 | Assess bowl clearance mechanism. | Bowl clearance meets operational requirements. | Visual inspection report. |
| IQ-05 | Conduct operational test for time. | Operational time complies with URS. | Operational testing log. |
Detailed Test Cases:
- Test Case IQ-01: Confirm that all components are installed correctly by cross-referencing with the manufacturer’s installation manual.
- Test Case IQ-02: Inspect all electrical connections for security and test the equipment to ensure it powers on and operates correctly.
- Test Case IQ-03: Use a tachometer to measure and confirm that the speed settings correspond to the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Test Case IQ-04: Manually inspect the bowl clearance mechanism to ensure it functions properly without obstruction.
- Test Case IQ-05: Conduct a timed operational test to ensure the equipment operates within the time parameters outlined in the URS.
Deviations: Any deviations from the acceptance criteria must be documented and investigated. Appropriate corrective actions should be implemented and re-testing performed as necessary.
