Design Qualification Protocol for Ribbon Blender in Solid Dosage Form Production
Meta Description: This document outlines the Design Qualification protocol for the Ribbon Blender used in Solid Dosage Form production, focusing on blending powders with critical parameters defined.
Tags: Equipment Validation, Design Qualification, Ribbon Blender, OSD, Pharmaceutical Quality
Objective
The objective of this Design Qualification (DQ) protocol is to ensure that the Ribbon Blender is properly designed, installed, and operates as intended for blending powders in the production of solid dosage forms.
Scope
This protocol applies to the Ribbon Blender used in the Production/Blending area for solid dosage form manufacturing. It covers the validation of the equipment’s critical parameters.
Responsibilities
- Validation Team: Responsible for executing the DQ protocol and documenting results.
- Quality Assurance: Responsible for reviewing and approving the DQ protocol and results.
- Maintenance Team: Responsible for ensuring the equipment is maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Prerequisites
- Installation of the Ribbon Blender must be completed.
- All relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) must be in place.
- Operator training must be completed.
Equipment Description
The Ribbon Blender is designed for blending powders efficiently. It operates by rotating a ribbon agitator within a cylindrical shell, ensuring uniform mixing of materials. The critical parameters for this equipment include:
- RPM: Revolutions per minute of the ribbon agitator.
- Mixing Time: Duration for which the materials are blended.
Test Plan
| Test ID | Procedure | Acceptance Criteria | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| DQ-RB-01 | Verify RPM settings | RPM must meet URS specifications | Calibration records |
| DQ-RB-02 | Verify mixing time | Mixing time must meet URS specifications | Time logs |
Detailed Test Cases
Test Case 1: Verify RPM Settings
Procedure: Measure the RPM of the Ribbon Blender using a calibrated tachometer.
Acceptance Criteria: The RPM must match the specifications outlined in the URS.
Evidence: Documented calibration records and tachometer readings.
Test Case 2: Verify Mixing Time
Procedure: Run the Ribbon Blender for the specified mixing time and record the duration.
Acceptance Criteria: The mixing time must adhere to the URS specifications.
Evidence: Time logs and operational records.
Deviations
Any deviations from the acceptance criteria must be documented and assessed for impact. Corrective actions should be implemented as necessary.
Approvals
This protocol must be reviewed and approved by the Validation Team and Quality Assurance prior to execution.
