Ribbon Blender – OQ Protocol

Operational Qualification Protocol for Ribbon Blender Equipment

Document Number: OQ-RB-001

Version: 1.0

Effective Date: [Insert Date]

Review Date: [Insert Date]

Objective

The objective of this Operational Qualification (OQ) protocol is to verify that the Ribbon Blender operates according to the specified requirements and meets all acceptance criteria defined in the User Requirements Specification (URS).

Scope

This protocol applies to the Ribbon Blender used in the production area for blending powders in the Solid Dosage Form (OSD) manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

The following roles are responsible for the execution and approval of this protocol:

  • Validation Team: Execution of the OQ protocol and documentation of results.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and approval of the protocol and results.
  • Production Personnel: Operation of the Ribbon Blender during testing.

Prerequisites

  • Completion of Installation Qualification (IQ).
  • Training of personnel on the operation of the Ribbon Blender.
  • Availability of all necessary documentation and equipment for testing.

Equipment Description

The Ribbon Blender is a batch mixing equipment designed for blending powders. It operates by rotating a ribbon-shaped agitator within a U-shaped trough, ensuring uniform mixture of the contents.

Test Plan

Test ID Procedure Acceptance Evidence
OQ-RB-01 Verify RPM settings during operation. RPM within specified range. Calibration logs, Test run data.
OQ-RB-02 Measure mixing time for batch. Mixing time within defined limits. Time logs, Batch records.

Detailed Test Cases

Test Case OQ-RB-01: RPM Verification

Objective: To ensure that the Ribbon Blender operates at the specified RPM.

Procedure: Set the Ribbon Blender to the required RPM and monitor using a tachometer.

Acceptance Criteria: RPM must be within the range specified in the URS.

Evidence: Record RPM readings and compare against specifications.

Test Case OQ-RB-02: Mixing Time Measurement

Objective: To confirm that the mixing time is within acceptable limits.

Procedure: Start the Ribbon Blender and time the duration of blending until the desired homogeneity is achieved.

Acceptance Criteria: Mixing time must fall within the range defined in the URS.

Evidence: Document the time taken and any observations during the blending process.

Deviations

Any deviations from the outlined procedures or acceptance criteria must be documented and justified. A deviation report should be created and reviewed by the Validation Team and Quality Assurance.
