Vacuum Emulsifier (Main Manufacturing Vessel) – Equipment Validation SOP

Standard Operating Procedure for Vacuum Emulsifier Equipment Validation

Purpose: This SOP outlines the validation process for the Vacuum Emulsifier used in the production of semi-solids, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining product quality.

Scope: This procedure applies to the validation of the Vacuum Emulsifier in the production/manufacturing area for emulsification and mixing of creams, ointments, gels, and lotions.

Definitions:

  • DQ: Design Qualification
  • IQ: Installation Qualification
  • OQ: Operational Qualification
  • PQ: Performance Qualification
  • CSV: Computerized System Validation

Roles:

  • Validation Team: Responsible for conducting validation activities.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Production Personnel: Operate and maintain the equipment.

Lifecycle Procedure:

  1. Conduct Design Qualification (DQ) to ensure equipment meets user requirements.
  2. Perform Installation Qualification (IQ) to verify equipment installation.
  3. Execute Operational Qualification (OQ) to confirm equipment operates within specified parameters.
  4. Complete Performance Qualification (PQ) to validate the equipment’s performance with actual product.

GDP Controls: Good Documentation Practices must be followed throughout the validation lifecycle to ensure traceability and compliance.

Acceptance Criteria Governance: Acceptance criteria shall be defined in the User Requirement Specification (URS) and comply with Annex 11 of the relevant regulations.

Calibration/PM Governance: The Vacuum Emulsifier must undergo regular calibration and preventive maintenance as per the manufacturer’s guidelines and internal policies.

Change Control Triggers: Any significant changes to the equipment, process, or materials that may impact the validation status must initiate a change control process.
