Objective
The objective of this Installation Qualification (IQ) protocol is to verify that the Capsule Polisher is installed correctly and operates according to the specified requirements, ensuring it meets the operational needs for polishing and dedusting capsules.
Scope
This protocol applies to the Capsule Polisher used in the Production area for Solid Dosage Forms (OSD). The IQ will cover the installation, verification of critical parameters, and compliance with the User Requirements Specification (URS).
Responsibilities
- Validation Team: Responsible for executing the IQ protocol and documenting results.
- Quality Assurance: Responsible for reviewing and approving the IQ protocol and results.
- Maintenance Team: Responsible for ensuring the equipment is installed according to manufacturer specifications.
Prerequisites
- Installation must be completed by certified personnel.
- All relevant documentation must be available, including manufacturer specifications and User Requirements Specification (URS).
- Training on the equipment operation must be completed by operators.
Equipment Description
The Capsule Polisher is designed to polish and dedust capsules post-filling. It utilizes controlled airflow to ensure minimal damage to capsules while achieving a clean and polished finish. The critical parameters include speed and airflow, which directly impact capsule integrity.
Test Plan
| Test ID | Procedure | Acceptance | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| IQ-CP-01 | Verify installation according to manufacturer specifications. | All components installed correctly. | Installation checklist signed off. |
| IQ-CP-02 | Measure airflow speed at operational settings. | Airflow speed within specified limits. | Calibration report of airflow meter. |
| IQ-CP-03 | Assess capsule integrity post-polishing. | No visible damage to capsules. | Photographic evidence of capsules. |
Detailed Test Cases
Test Case 1: Installation Verification
Test ID: IQ-CP-01
Procedure: Verify that all components of the Capsule Polisher are installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Acceptance: All components must be present and properly installed.
Evidence: Installation checklist signed by the installer.
Test Case 2: Airflow Speed Measurement
Test ID: IQ-CP-02
Procedure: Measure the airflow speed using calibrated equipment at specified operational settings.
Acceptance: Airflow speed must be within the limits defined in the URS.
Evidence: Calibration report of airflow meter documenting results.
Test Case 3: Capsule Integrity Assessment
Test ID: IQ-CP-03
Procedure: Inspect capsules post-polishing for any signs of damage.
Acceptance: No visible damage to capsules.
Evidence: Photographic evidence documenting the condition of capsules.
Deviations
Any deviations from the acceptance criteria must be documented and justified. A corrective action plan should be developed to address any issues identified during the IQ process.
