Objective

The objective of this Design Qualification Protocol is to ensure that the Glass-Lined Reactor (GLR) is designed, installed, and operates according to the specified requirements and is suitable for the intended use in chemical synthesis reactions.

Scope

This protocol applies to the validation of the Glass-Lined Reactor (GLR) located in the production area for API manufacturing through chemical synthesis. The validation will encompass the critical parameters affecting product quality.

Responsibilities

The Validation Team is responsible for executing the DQ protocol, while the Quality Assurance (QA) team will review and approve the documentation. The Engineering team will provide technical support during the validation process.

Prerequisites

Prior to executing this protocol, the following must be completed:

  • Installation Qualification (IQ) must be completed and approved.
  • All necessary documentation must be available, including User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), and Design Specifications (DS).

Equipment Description

The Glass-Lined Reactor (GLR) is designed for chemical synthesis reactions and is equipped with temperature control, pressure monitoring, agitation systems, and PLC logging capabilities. The reactor is critical for maintaining product quality and compliance with regulatory standards.

Test Plan

Test ID Procedure Acceptance Criteria Evidence
T1 Verify temperature control functionality Temperature within ±2°C of set point Temperature log records
T2 Verify pressure monitoring system Pressure within specified limits Pressure log records
T3 Agitation system performance check Agitation RPM within ±10% of set point Agitation log records
T4 PLC logging functionality verification All critical parameters logged accurately PLC log review

Detailed Test Cases

Test Case T1: Verify Temperature Control Functionality

Procedure: Set the reactor to a specified temperature and monitor for stability. Record the temperature readings over a defined period.

Acceptance Criteria: Temperature must remain within ±2°C of the set point.

Evidence: Review temperature log records for compliance.

Test Case T2: Verify Pressure Monitoring System

Procedure: Set the reactor to the maximum allowable pressure and monitor the pressure readings for stability.

Acceptance Criteria: Pressure must remain within specified limits.

Evidence: Review pressure log records for compliance.

Test Case T3: Agitation System Performance Check

Procedure: Set the agitation speed to the desired RPM and verify through monitoring.

Acceptance Criteria: Agitation RPM must remain within ±10% of the set point.

Evidence: Review agitation log records for compliance.

Test Case T4: PLC Logging Functionality Verification

Procedure: Monitor PLC logs during operation to ensure all critical parameters are logged accurately.

Acceptance Criteria: All critical parameters must be logged accurately without discrepancies.

Evidence: Review PLC log records for compliance.

Deviations

Any deviations from the acceptance criteria must be documented and assessed for impact on product quality. Corrective actions must be implemented as necessary.

Approvals

This protocol must be reviewed and approved by the Quality Assurance team and relevant stakeholders prior to execution.
