Objective
The objective of this Performance Qualification (PQ) Protocol is to validate the performance of the Planetary Mixer during the wet massing process to ensure compliance with established specifications and acceptance criteria.
Scope
This protocol applies to the Planetary Mixer used in the production area for wet massing of solid dosage forms. It encompasses the qualification of the equipment and its critical parameters.
Responsibilities
The following roles are responsible for the execution and approval of this protocol:
- Validation Manager: Overall oversight and approval.
- Quality Assurance: Review and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Production Lead: Execution of the test plan.
- Maintenance Team: Ensure equipment readiness.
Prerequisites
Prior to executing this PQ protocol, the following must be completed:
- Installation Qualification (IQ) of the Planetary Mixer.
- Operational Qualification (OQ) of the Planetary Mixer.
- Training of personnel on equipment operation.
Equipment Description
The Planetary Mixer is designed for wet massing in the production of solid dosage forms. Key features include adjustable speed settings, a removable bowl, and a comprehensive control panel.
Test Plan
| Test ID | Procedure | Acceptance | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| PQ-001 | Verify speed settings at low, medium, and high. | Speed within specified range. | Calibration report. |
| PQ-002 | Measure time taken for wet massing. | Time within specified limits. | Time log. |
| PQ-003 | Check bowl clearance post operation. | No residual material. | Visual inspection report. |
Detailed Test Cases
Test Case 1: Speed Verification
Procedure: Set the mixer to low, medium, and high speeds. Record the actual speed displayed on the control panel.
Acceptance Criteria: Speed must be within the specified range as per URS.
Evidence: Calibration report to confirm speed accuracy.
Test Case 2: Time Measurement
Procedure: Operate the mixer for a predefined duration and record the time taken for the wet massing process.
Acceptance Criteria: Time must align with the established limits as per URS.
Evidence: Time log documenting the operation duration.
Test Case 3: Bowl Clearance Check
Procedure: After the mixing process, visually inspect the bowl for any residual material.
Acceptance Criteria: No residual material should be present in the bowl.
Evidence: Visual inspection report confirming cleanliness.
Deviations
Any deviations from the acceptance criteria must be documented and assessed for impact on product quality. Corrective actions should be implemented as necessary.
